Quality is realized at the highest level
- In order to achieve SUS304 class corrosion resistance to pin, bush and roller individually, NSSC550 material from NIPPON STEEL Stainless Steel Corporation is used for them.
- The life of the chain is extended by improved wear resistance.
- The lifetime is five times longer, so line stoppage is reduced due to the longer replacement cycles.
- The strength is increased with around three times larger maximum allowable tension, so chain downsizing is possible.
Corrosion Resistance And Strength Of Stainless Chain
The photograph below shows the results after salt spray testing for 700 hours. The liquid used in the environmental testing to investigate the degree of corrosion (rusting) used an aqueous sodium chloride solution. These are the results from that accelerated corrosion testing.
SSP High-Performance Stainless Chain
We use NSSC550 (martensitic stainless steel) material from NIPPON STEEL Stainless Steel Corporation as the material for the pins, bushes and rollers, which are the parts with frequent wear. (*The chain plates are SUS304.) A special heat treatment is applied to the pins, bushes and rollers to produce strength equivalent to that of steel and corrosion resistance at the level of SUS304. Compared with conventional stainless steel chains, the wear resistance is around five times greater and the maximum allowable tension is around three times greater.
SS Stainless Chain
SS stainless steel chains use SUS304 (18Cr-8Ni) austenitic stainless steel for all the components. They are suitable for environments that require heat resistance (-20°C to +400°C), corrosion resistance and an attractive appearance.
AS (Precipitation Hardening) Stainless Chain
AS stainless steel chains are a product that replaces the pins and rollers of the SS chain with precipitation hardening stainless steel to raise the allowable tension. They have around 1.5 times greater maximum allowable tension than the SS chains, but the corrosion resistance is slightly lower than on the SS chain. They can be used from -20°C to +400°C. The corrosion resistance falls slightly.

Stainless Chain Performance Comparison
Performance Comparison
*1. The maximum allowable tension is the value under lubricated conditions (including water lubrication).
Stainless steel chains are not lubricated before shipping. Always apply lubricant before use unless they are to be used in water or in an atmosphere where water will get onto them. If a chain is used without lubrication, then it may suffer bending failure at an early stage.

Features
- The martensitic stainless steel NSSC550 material is used on the points of wear on the pins, bushes (solid bushes) and rollers. (The plates are SUS304)
- A special heat treatment is applied to the pins, bushes and rollers to realize a hardness equivalent to that of steel. In salt water spray testing, the corrosion resistance was found to be at the same level as SUS304.
- Can be used for 40, 50, 60, 80, C2040, C2050, C2060H and C2080H! The double pitch R rollers are SUS304
- The dimensions are the same as conventional stainless steel chains, so the installation of the various attachments is possible!
